Blanche Shirey Dicker, 94, of Greensboro, GA died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Boswell Parker Nursing Home in Greensboro. Mrs. Dicker was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 9, 1918 to the late William Christopher Shirey and Mary Stoner Shirey. While living most of her adult life in Chatham, N.J., Mrs. Dicker worked as an accountant in New York City splitting her years there with U.S. Steel Corp. and J.P. Morgan. Mrs. Dicker''s social life included the Chatham Women''s Club, the Chatham Community Players, and bridge playing with her friends. She also loved animals and, at various times, owned both dogs and cats. In her later years, Mrs. Dicker moved to San Jose, California to be near her nephew and his wife. In time, Mrs. Dicker moved along with her nephew and his wife to Greensboro, GA where she lived first at the Willow Run Retirement Home and then in the Boswell Parker Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Dicker who died in 1975. Survivors include nephews, Bill Shirey and wife Denise of Greensboro, GA, Terry Shirey and wife Carol of Massachusetts, Don Romig and wife Inez of Iowa and nieces, Judy Schuur and husband Maynard of Michigan, Betty Jean Posz and husband Jim of Iowa and Marion Holland and husband Joe of Florida.
