Betty Ann Bryant Thornton
Betty Ann Bryant Thornton, 79, of Union Point, GA died on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Greene Point Nursing Home in Union Point, GA. Born in Greensboro, GA on February 12, 1938, Betty Ann was the daughter of the late James Bryant and Elizabeth Arnold Bryant. She attended school in Union Point, GA and on July 2, 1955 married Robert Euel Thornton, Sr. After high school she worked for Stewart Apparel Greensboro, GA and later for Thomas Textile in Union Point, GA as a seamstress. Later, she kept children for several working families in her home. Most of all Betty Ann was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and baby sitting for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Betty Ann was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Robert “Bud” Thornton, Sr. of Union Point, GA; her children, Robert “Buddy” Thornton, Jr. (Rose) of Winterville, GA, Tony Thornton, (Beth) of Carlton, GA, Sanford “Sandy” Thornton (Debbie) of Woodville, GA, Jimmy Thornton (Kathy) of Union Point, GA, Lovette Lombard (Byron) of Greensboro, GA and Paul Thornton of Union Point, GA, and sister, Charlotte Spivey of Greensboro, GA; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery Serving as pallbearers are Byron Lombard, J. T. Thornton, Jimmy Thornton, Sandy Thornton, Buddy Thornton. and Paul Thornton.
