Betty Carr Dickens McWhorter of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019, at the age of 84. Born in Jewell, GA on September 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Twilley Carr, Sr. and Julia Pittman Carr. For many years she taught at Hancock and Greene County schools and Nathanael Greene Academy.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Duvall (Zippy) of the Greshamville Community and Hannah Baynes (Scott) of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Vince Duvall (Erin), Cora Duvall Terry (Jared), Zeb Duvall (Katie), Zellie Duvall, Mollie Baynes Knowles (Jordan), and Em Baynes Butcher (Jeb); great grandchildren, Ava Duvall, Tripp Duvall, Savannah Duvall, Jocee Terry, Gus Terry and Landon Knowles; a brother Marvin Carr (Saralyn) of Forsyth, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hamp McWhorter.
The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA at noon on Tuesday following a private family service.
