Betty Ann Wigley Mason, age 68, of Madison, Georgia, died on Monday, August 20, 2007 at St. Mary''s Hospice in Bogart, GA. Mrs. Mason was a native of DeKalb County, AL, but had lived most of her life in Georgia. Born January 1, 1939 she was the only daughter of the late Perry Braswell Wigley, Sr. and Ida Leola Sterling. She attended Fyffe High School. She was a Sterile Supply Technician working for Rockdale County Hospital, Georgia Baptist and Emory. After retiring she worked for Perky Cap Company in Eatonton, GA. Betty was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Milledgeville, but also enjoyed visiting Beacon Heights Baptist Church in Madison. She collected cookbooks, enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes. Her favorite things to do was have impromptu get togethers with her family, reading and gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Mason; and a brother, Perry B. Wigley, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela S. Alexander of Madison, GA and Lisa S. Creel of Hiram, GA; five sons, Martin B. Sims of Birmingham, AL, John Stephen Sims of Buckhead, GA, Michael Robert Sims of Brule, WI, Joseph Alan Sims of Barnesville, GA and Kenneth Shawn Sims of Madison, GA; three brothers, Charles Wigley of Chattanooga, TN, William "Bill" Wigley of Huntsville, AL and Don Wigley of Amarillo, TX; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Steven Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Lusk Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dawson, AL at 4:00 p.m. Alabama time. Her sons will serve as pallbearers.
