Betty Eugene Lunceford

Betty Eugene Lunceford of Union Point, GA, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro surrounded by her loving family.  She was 77.  A lifelong resident of Union Point, she was born on August 15, 1936 to the late Emmett Olin Lunceford and Hazel Jeanette Moody Lunceford.  She attended Union Point High School.  From 1952 to 1999, she worked at Chipman Union Manufacturing in Union Point as a Lab Technician.  She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church of Union Point, where she was the choir director for many years and was a Sunday School Superintendent for several years. She was also a member of the Mamie Hester Sunday School Class.  Betty loved to arrange flowers and decorating the church on special occasions.  Going to church and participating in church activities, visiting her friends and sharing her cooking with family were some of her many interests.

She is survived by her devoted family, brothers, Jerry Lee Lunceford of Union Point, GA, and William Lunceford (Curtis Anne) of Madison, GA; sister Patsy Duvall of Greensboro, GA; sister-in-law, Henrietta Lunceford; a number of nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Frances Lunceford, Charlie H. Lunceford, Margaret Dickens and Olin Lunceford.

Funeral Services will be held, Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin and Rev. Lem Clark officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home.  Serving as pallbearers are Lewis Duvall, Ricky Duvall, Jamie Duvall, Mike Lunceford, George Cannon and David Cannon.  Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of the church, Stan Jackson, Keith Yearwood, Dennis Dover, Bill Dover, Patrick Lunceford and Billy Lunceford.  The family requests that any memorials be made to Bethesda Baptist Church, P.
