Betty Gordon Gill
On November 9, 2014, Betty Gordon Gill of Greensboro, GA passed away at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro at the age of 80. Born December 8, 1933 in Chattanooga, TN, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Gordon, Sr. and Josephine Bettis Gordon. Betty grew up in Atlanta and graduated from North Fulton High School and also from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. For ten years she was the owner and operator of Chocolate O’Harah's in the Augusta Mall. She married James William “Jim” Gill and they lived in Barnwell, SC for eighteen years and moved to their home on Lake Oconee in 1998. Betty was an excellent cook and seamstress and spent most of her life helping family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Jim Gill of Greensboro, GA; children, James A. Dukes, Jr. (Beth) of Spring Hill, TN, Dawn Bading (Fred) of Atlanta, GA, Gordon Dukes (Leah) of Greensboro, GA, Ashley Orrell (Phil) of Bishop, GA and Tiffany Piontek (Rick) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren Thomas Dukes (Allison), Jon David Dukes (Kari), Seth Dukes (Amelia), Clay Dukes, Emily Dukes, Mary Beth Dukes, Carlisle Bading, Major Dukes, Tucker Dukes, Devin Orrell, Kayla Orrell, Mason Piontek and McClaine Piontek; great grandchild, Alyssa Dukes; sister-in-law, June Gordon; brother, Rev. Robert W. Gordon of Shreveport, LA; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Rob Raynor officiating. The family will receive friends, Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Mason Piontek, Thomas Dukes, Mark Branum, Tucker Dukes, Major Dukes and Jon David Dukes.
