Betty Jean Lankford Campbell

Betty Jean Lankford Campbell, age 76, of Arnoldsville, GA, formerly of Conyers, GA, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at The Oaks At Athens. She was born on August 10, 1937, in Union Point, GA, one of 10 children born to the late Jessie and Cleo Agnes Turner Lankford. She grew up in Union Point and attended Union Point High School.  Her working career began as a waitress, then she worked as a meat wrapper at Kroger.  She was also the manager at a guest house in Atlanta for doctors while they were doing their residency at Emory.  Before retiring because of health, she was a bookkeeper for Milroy Optical.  Betty was a member of Wesleyan Methodist in Union Point and a member of the American Legion.  She was an excellent cook, enjoyed playing bingo and especially enjoyed taking care of her family and the elderly.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Futrelle and his wife Debbie of Arnoldsville, GA; 4 sisters, Darlene Carter of Loganville, GA, Jeannette Carter and her husband Roy of Eatonton, GA, Joyce Dale and her husband Delbert of Stone Mountain, GA and Gail Sturdivant and her husband Randy of Bonaire, GA; 4 brothers, Bobby Lankford and his wife Wydell of Stephens, GA, Clarence Lankford and his wife Grace of Flowery Branch, GA, Roger Lankford of Union Point, GA and Charles Lankford and his wife Sandra of Danielsville, GA; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Fleeman (Jason), Melena Fleeman (Alan), Kenny Futrelle, Jr. (Brandy) and Matthew Futrelle; 7 great grandchildren, Caitlin Fleeman, Amber Cook, Hailey Fleeman, Alexis Fleeman, Samuel Fleeman, Nathan Futrelle and Nataleigh Futrelle; and a host of other relatives; and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Langford.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Randy Lankford officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Pallbearers will be Kenny Futrelle, Jr., Matthew Futrelle, Geoff Dale, Alan Fleeman, Russell Lankford and Robby Rainey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
