Bertice Williams Obituary

Bertice Smith Williams, age 93, of the Greshamville Community in Greene County, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living Residence in Athens. Along with her twin sister, Bernice, she was born December 8, 1914 in Greshamville, Georgia to the late James Marvin Smith and Susie Perkins Smith as one of thirteen children. Bertice grew up in Greshamville, attended Madison A&M and graduated from Greensboro High School. She was the Dietetic Supervisor at Beverly Manor in Madison, GA. Mrs. Williams was a member of Fork Chapel United Methodist Church in Greshamville where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the UMW. She was very active in the community and loved visiting and caring for her neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin P. Williams, her second husband, Thomas L. Williams and eleven siblings. Survivors include a daughter, Gerry W. Fordham and husband Robert Gene of Sautee, GA; a son, Perkins Williams and wife Janie of the Greshamville Community; a sister, Lottie O''Kelley of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Robert A. Williams, Laura Jean Williams, Robert Gene Fordham Jr. and Edythe Fordham Blencowe; great grandchildren, Kal Williams, Hunter Blencowe, Richard Blencowe, Abby Fordham and Thomas Fordham; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Fork Chapel United Methodist Church in Greshamville with Rev. Bob Murphy officiating. Interment will be at Nacoochee United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sautee Nacoochee, GA at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Lyndon Eubanks officiating. Serving as pallbearers are James Harold Smith, John Carr, Jon Dyar, George Viereck, David Smith and Greg Harry. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home.
