Bert Meijerink

Albertus Cornelius “Bert” Meijerink, age 59, of Union Point, Georgia, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at his residence. A native of Enschede, Netherlands, he was born April 1, 1944 to the late Barend Meijerink and Jannetje Van de Brink Meijerink. He graduated from High School in Holland and graduated from culinary school after 1 1/2 years of study in Switzerland. As a young man he was a chef on merchant marine ships in the Netherlands and had worked last as a cook at Pizza Hut. He lived in Union Point for the last 13 years. He is survived by his wife, Rita Meijerink of Union Point, GA; two sons, Robert “Dutch” Meijerink of Union Point, GA and Ivo Meijerink and fiance Teresa of Watkinsville, GA; two sisters, Audrey Meijerink of Amsterdam, Netherlands and Evelyn Broer of Enschede, Netherlands; a brother, Kees Meijerink and wife Helen of Leeuwarden, Netherlands; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 4, 2003 at 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Maeser officiating.
