Benjamin Michael Hurrell

Benjamin Michael “Ben” Hurrell, age 40, of Bishop, GA, died, Monday, September 26, 2011 at his residence. He was born on August 23, 1971 in Athens, GA to Dorothy Frances Poss and the late Clarence Hurrell, Jr. He attended Greene County High School and started his working career with Smith Chevron in Athens, where he worked for a number of years. For the last ten years, he has worked as the owner and operator of EZ Towing and Repair. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed riding motorcycles, four wheelers, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching Nascar racing and football games with his son and coaching his son football. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother and friend. In addition to his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Philip Golson of Greensboro, GA, Ben is survived by his wife, Sheila Shelton Hurrell of Bishop, GA, a daughter, Samantha Nichole Hurrell of Bishop, GA; a son, Cameron Michael Hurrell of Bishop, GA; sisters, Debbie Gwenett Hardin and husband Jay of Danielsville, GA and Linda Dianne Mansfield and husband Mark of Gallion, OH; brother, Jerry Dwayne Golson of Greensboro, GA ; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lurlene and Jackie Shelton of Greensboro, GA; brother-in-law, Steve Shelton; seven nieces and nephews; a great nephew; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCommons Chapel with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway, Athens, GA30606. Serving as pallbearers are Jason Hampton, Robert Ray, John Richardson, Chuck Fletcher, Chris Peters and Rex Dauler.
