Benjamin McWhorter Hood
Benjamin McWhorter Hood of Greensboro, GA, who was named for his great uncle, Benjamin Calhoun McWhorter, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at the age of 57. He was born on June 6, 1957 to the late Oliver Julian Hood Sr. and Audrey Marie Robinson Hood Lunceford. He graduated from Greene County High School, where he went to All State in football and received a full scholarship to Presbyterian College in South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. After graduation he went on to coach at Piedmont, Telfair County, Nathanael Greene Academy, Burke County and Greene County. Most recently Ben had been working at the Greene County Country Club in Union Point as the shop manager. Ben was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, enjoyed music and writing. Ben was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro. He will be greatly missed by a multitude of friends and loved ones.
Survivors include his brothers, Julian Hood and wife Phyllis of Roswell, GA and John Hood and wife Linda of Atlanta, GA; his twin sister, Nancy Boczar and husband Bruce of Trevose, PA; step mother, Marie Costantini of Levittown, PA; half sister, Gina Cavalier of Cameron, MT; aunt, Sarah Fortson of Greensboro, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, other aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Memorial Services will be held, Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro, GA 30642. Inurnment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
