Ben Lee McDonald, Jr., 74, of Greensboro, GA died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Embracing Hospice Care in Snellville. Born May 14, 1930 in Greene County, he was the son of the late Ben Lee McDonald, Sr. and Minnie Nolan McDonald. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1947 and North Georgia College in 1951. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro. For thirty five years he worked in accounting for Winthrop-Sterling Drug Company in Atlanta. Then he moved back to Greensboro in 1988 where he enjoyed helping with AWANA at First Baptist Church of Greensboro.
Survivors include a sister, Susie McDonald of Greensboro, GA; two nieces, Gloria Vinson of Greensboro, GA and Debbie Fuller of Greensboro, GA; a nephew, Pete McDonald of Rome, GA; two great nieces, Elizabeth McDonald and Kim Fuller; three great nephews, Mike Vinson, Austin McDonald and James Fuller; a sister-in-law, Olly McDonald and a brother-in-law, Wallace Patton. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Robert McDonald, Roy McDonald, Lizzie McDonald Tedder, Clarence McDonald and Ruth McDonald Patton.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The family requests that any memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605 or Eastside Heritage Center, Embracing Hospice Care, 2160 Fountain Drive, Snellville, GA 30078.
