Barbara Louise (Underwood) Young

Barbara Louise Underwood Young went to be with her Lord on July 25, 2016. She was born on February 24, 1932 in Porterdale, Georgia to Mr. Johnny Bryan Underwood and Mrs. Lucy Morris Underwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John H. Young. She is survived by her sons, Mike Young and wife Julie Young of Watkinsville, Georgia, Greg Young and wife Cindy Young of Madison, Georgia, Jeff Young and Debra Young of Monroe, Georgia, brother Billy Underwood and wife Judy Underwood of Monroe, Georgia, grandchildren Jason Young and Jaimie Young, Shane Young, Katie and Sean Palmateer, Matthew Dickens, September Day Carter and husband Bob Carter, Travis Young, Lucy E. Young, Jessie Mae Young, Colt and Katie Young, Bryan and Holly Young, Nikki and Bradley Janes, Michele and Tommy Thrailkill, Brian and Beth Dodson, Ashleigh and Justin McCormack, great grandchildren Cody and Tanna Young, Shyann Miller, Kaj Miller, Vance Miller, Michael Palmateer, Savannah Palmateer, Cadence Carter, Patience Carter, Jack Carter, Aiden Young, Daniel Young, Tyler Thornton, Terann Thornton, Trinity Young, Jaden Young, Xavier Janes, Jordan Janes, Mikaela Thrailkill, Xander Thrailkill, Lyndie Thrailkill, Brayden Wu, Rylan Dodson, Paxton Dodson, Sawyer McCormack and a host of other relatives and friends.     
   
Mrs. Young married her husband of 60 years in 1948 and started a small farm near Social Circle, Georgia. In 1951, the couple moved their young family to Atlanta Georgia, where Mrs. Young lovingly supported her husband, children and grandchildren as a devoted wife and mother. She attended and served at First Baptist Church of Cleveland Avenue prior to the couple’s retirement and relocation to Greensboro, Georgia where she attended First Baptist Church of Greensboro where she was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class. She found particular joy and fulfillment in working with children in the AWANA program.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Mark Jones and Dr. Jimmy Long officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Colt Young, Bryan Young, Bradley Janes, Sean Palmateer, Josh Miller and Brian Dodson. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Haven Memory Gardens, 490 Edmondson Road, Monroe, GA 30655.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
