Barbara Ann Bruce Luton
Barbara Ann Bruce Luton passed away, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Havre, Montana on January 7, 1939 to the late Gordon Edgar Bruce and Veronica Elaine Howell Bruce. She graduated from Edmonds High School in 1957 and attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington and Seattle University in Seattle, Washington. She married Donald Caddens Bird on St. Patrick’s Day 1962 in California. She was a homemaker raising three children while living in California, Virginia, and Connecticut. She married Charles Luton (Chuck) in 1990, traveled extensively throughout the world, and settled back in Washington State on Harstene Island, where she lived a wonderful life for many years. Following the death of her late husband, Chuck, she moved to Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee in 2009 to live next door to her son, Bruce, and his family. All of her life she loved her family and friends, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bridge, watching sports, and hiking in the great outdoors. She was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro and an active Eucharistic minister.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Brian Donald Bird and wife Virginia of Centreville, VA; Bruce Caddens Bird and wife Kristine of Greensboro, GA and her daughter, Rebecca Ann Tarantino and husband Tony of Pleasanton, CA; her sisters, Marilyn Jo Maxum and husband Bernard, Carol Elaine Van Parys and husband Roger, and Toni Lee Florimonte and husband Vito; her grandchildren, Nicholas Davis, Nathan Davis, Natalie Tarantino and Rachel Bird; her step-children Scott and Todd Luton, and her step-grandchildren Megan, Justin, Christopher, Derek, Nathan, and Nicole.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, in Greensboro with Father Bill Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service, in the church’s Sacred Heart Social Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Putnam LifeSource or Habitat for Humanity Putnam. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
