Arthur Goldstein Obituary

U.S. Veteran

Arthur (Artie) Goldstein, age 67, passed away at his home in Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA, on January 31, 2013. Artie was born on September 27, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of Sam and Mary Goldstein. As a teenager, he moved to Atlantic Beach, Long Island, NY and attended Lawrence High School. He graduated from Queens College in 1967. Artie married Judy Weiss in 1968. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1969-1978, and taught junior high school science for a short time. In 1972, Artie moved to New Jersey and, the following year, established Damin Sales, a business representing electrical manufacturers. He served as president of Damin Sales from 1982 until 2005, when he retired and moved to Reynolds Plantation. During retirement, Artie remained active in community service. He worked as a mentor to struggling students in middle school in Greene County. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Oconee Performing Arts Society. Artie, however, never retired from golf. His love of the game was much more about the camaraderie with his many golfing buddies than about finding the perfect swing. He served as president of the Reynolds Plantation Men''s Golf Association in 2011. Above all else, the true passion of his life was his family.

In addition to his wife Judy, Artie is survived by son Matt (Lori), daughter Jill (Nikki), grandchildren Luke, Charlie, Tessa, and Adler, and sister Alice Roberts.

A memorial service to celebrate Artie''s life will be held at the Greensboro United Methodist Church (Carey Station Road Campus) on Sunday, February 10 at 2 p.m., officiated by Rabbi Eric Linder of Athens, GA and Dr. David W. Key, Sr. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Artie''s memory be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, GU Department, 1155 Pressler St., CPB 7.3450, Houston, TX, 77030.
