Anthony Robert “Tony” Flannagan, age 38, of Eatonton, GA, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 14, 1971 in Franklin County, Maine to Huguette Dube Flannagan and the late Jack John Flannagan. Tony received his education from Mount Abram High School in Maine, where he graduated in 1989 and Southern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. While in high school, he was a cross country track star and participated in the Junior Olympics in Reno, Nevada. After living in South Carolina, he moved to Putnam County six years ago. He was the chef at Hugs Restaurant on Lake Oconee and was recently voted “The Best Chef of Lake Oconee”. He loved playing tennis, enjoyed video games and listening to music.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Lewellen Flannagan, two sons, four year old Aidan Flannagan, seven month old Keegan Flannagan and his mother Hugette Flannagan; a sister, Amy Wood of Milford, New Hampshire; a brother, Christopher Rackliff of Milford, New Hampshire; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at the Waterside Restaurant at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers any memorials be made to the Tony Flannagan Hope Fund, c/o The Peoples Bank, 991 Lake Oconee Parkway, Eatonton, GA 31024.
