Annie Mae Lewis Durham, age 96, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Mrs. Durham was born in Powellton, GA on August 22, 1915, the daughter of the late Sarah Frances Johnson Lewis and Charles Edward Lewis. As a child she attended school in Powellton, GA and graduated from Mayfield High School. She married Samuel Frank Durham in 1936 and they made their home in Union Point, GA. She worked as a Looper at Union Manufacturing which later became Chipman Union. Mrs. Durham was a member of First Baptist Church of Union Point, where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School and was president of WMU. She influenced the lives of many young girls as the teacher of Girl''s Auxiliary. She was also a pink lady at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital.
In addition to her husband of seventy-five years, Samuel Frank Durham, of Union Point, GA, who recently turned 100, she is also survived by a daughter Rochelle Durham Anthoine and husband Ray of Ft. Valley, GA; and five grandchildren, Archer Ogletree (Alice), Katrina O. Ortner (Steve), Karen O. Mathews (Steve), Cynthia A. Holly (Jeff) and Lisa A. Keys; six great grandchildren, Brandi Schneider (Chris), Jonathan Ortner, Alex Mathews, Ashlyn Holly, Austyn Holly and Trey Keys; and one great great grandchild, Autumn Fanette Schneider. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Fanette Durham Ogletree in April of 2003 and two brothers, Grady Lewis and Lester Lewis.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Union Point with Rev. Harry Michael officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Lewis, Tom Lewis, Doyle Lewis, Bobby Durham, Melvin Durham and Tommy Swann. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point.
