Annette Acree Woolf

Annette Acree Woolf, age 93, of Augusta, Georgia, wife of the late Thomas Harley Woolf, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Select Hospital in Augusta. She was born in Union Point, Georgia January 2, 1917. Her parents were Bunyan Augustine Acree and Annette Gentry Acree. Her mother died in the 1918 flu pandemic, but her father had four more children from a second marriage. Mrs. Woolf graduated from Union Point High School and attended Wesleyan Methodist College in Central, SC, before graduating from Houghton College in Houghton, New York. She worked for the Welfare Department in Augusta and later as a counselor for the Richmond County Correctional Department. She also worked as counselor at State mental Hospital in Macon. She later worked as a nursing home consultant, and then was the director of a halfway house in Aiken. She found a loving mate late in life and married at age 80 to Harley. A long time resident of the Augusta area, she had recently been living at Morningside of Evans. She was a member of New Heights Baptist Church of Augusta and an emeritus member of Eastern Star Chapter 464 in Martinez, Ga.

She is survived by her brother, B. Evans Acree of Union Point, GA; two nieces, Louise Bentley and Evelyn Acree; two nephews, Al Cason and Herb Acree; and five grand nieces, Cason White, Josie Wicker, Sophie Wicker, Patricia Acree and Brandi Acree Abato. Mrs. Woolf was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Acree Cason, Isbelle Acree Cofer and John Thomas Acree.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Wisteria Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA with Rev. Lloyd Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service Tuesday morning at Callaway Funeral Home.
