Annette (Bustin) Dowdy

Lucy Annette Bustin Dowdy, age 75, of the Veazey community died Monday, July 15, 2019 at Legacy Health & Rehab in Greensboro, GA. Born December 18, 1943 in Greensboro, GA she was the daughter of the late Rosa Ruth Hammond Bustin and Russell Wilson Bustin. Annette attended grammar school in Siloam, GA and graduated from Greensboro High School with the class of 1961. On June 16, 1961 she married Robert Daniel Dowdy. For many years she worked with her husband at Dowdy’s Grocery in the Veazey community. As long as health permitted Annette was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro and the Agape Amicus Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club.  Annette was talented in many ways but she really enjoyed cooking, farming, yard work and wagon trains. She cherished most her family and friends .
 
Survivors include her Husband, Robert Daniel Dowdy of the Veazey community; daughter Lucy Lord and husband Dave of Lake Oconee; sons, Marty Dowdy and wife Patti of Greensboro, GA and Terry Dowdy and wife Michele of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Daniel Dowdy (Sara), Libby Dowdy, Brianna Lord, Cody Lord, Cory Lord, Trevor Dowdy and Sean Dowdy; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Crawford.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, Georgia 30642 with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Cody Lord, Trevor Dowdy, Sean Dowdy, Cory Lord Adrian Rimes, and Bill Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Dowdy, Alvin Dowdy, Billy Crawford, Ray Copelan, Ray Marchman, and Billy Byce.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019 at McCommons Funeral Home.
