Anna Sybil Wheeler Veazey

Anna Sybil Wheeler Veazey, age 95, of Crawfordville, Georgia, died on Friday, September 27, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Crawfordville she was born March 27, 1918 to the late Macon Sanford and Blanche Rhodes Wheeler. She received her education from Alexander Stephens Institute. She married John Gardner "Jack" Veazey who preceded her in death. Mrs. Veazey worked for Leard''s Florist as a floral designer and Greene Point Nursing Home as a nurses aid and medical records secretary. She was a member of Powelton Baptist Church where she was the pianist and church treasurer for many years. Mrs. Veazey enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, cooking, doing for others and playing the piano which she taught herself.

In addition to her husband, Jack Veazey, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Wheeler, Alton Wheeler, Macon "Buddy" Wheeler and Rosa Nell Wheeler Veazey. She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn V. Hunter and husband Manuel, Lynda V. Pollock and Jackie V. Butts and husband Mike; grandchildren, Michael Steed Hunter and wife Debra, Lisa H. Newsome and husband Warren, John Veazey Hunter and wife Erin, Inman Curry Hogan, III and wife Amanda, Anna Carole Hogan, Christopher Lee Butts and wife Mary, Benjamin Adam Butts and wife Pamela and Jack Veazey Butts; great grandchildren, Ansley Kathryn Newsome, Hunter Pierce Newsome, Tyler Martin Hunter, Sarah Grace Hunter, Baylee Grace Butts and Nicholas Curry Hogan; step great grandchildren, Brittany G. Allgood and husband Timothy, Bailey Jo Guthrie, Mattison Grace Waters, Chloe Rose Waters and Ansley Camille Waters; and a very special sister-in-law, Christine M. Wheeler; her beloved cat, Bunchy; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held, Monday, September 30, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Powelton Baptist Church, 5 Jones Bridge Road, Sparta, GA 31087 with Rev. Jeff Bishop, Rev. Lee Hunter and Rev. John King officiating. Interment will follow in Powelton Community Cemetery. 25065 Sparta Road S.E., Sparta, GA 31087. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons and granddaughters: Michael Steed Hunter, Lisa H. Newsome, John Veazey Hunter, Inman Curry Hogan III, Anna Carole Hogan, Christopher Lee Butts, Benjamin Adam Butts and Jack Veazey Butts. Honorary pallbearers are Willard Cooper, Bobby Jones, Andy Veazey and Larry Veazey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Callaway Funeral Home.
