Amedeo John Sardella, age 85, formerly of Miami, Florida, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at his son''s home in Greensboro, Georgia. He moved to Miami in 1947 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Miami for two years under the G.I. Bill while working part-time in the carpet department of a hotel furnishing company.

Born in the Tuscan Hills of Italy, he was the son of Luigi and Erminia Sardella and immigrated to the United States at the age of six. At eighteen he enlisted in the United States Navy and served both in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres during World War II and was honorably discharged in January 1946. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4955 in Pompano Beach.

He is survived by three children; son, Dan and wife Sandi Sardella of Greensboro, Georgia; daughter, Diane and husband Jack Collin of Monroe, Georgia; daughter, Bonnie and husband Tommy Williamson of Miami, Florida; sister, Gina Cucinotti of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his loving companion of twenty-five years, Nancy Gagliola.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Father G. Philip Ryan officiating. Services will be Monday, December 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church with interment at St. Matthew Cemetery Mausoleum in Conshohocken, PA. Serving as pallbearers are Tony Sardella, David Williamson, Chris Collin, Dennis Williams, Scott Martin, Steve Martin, Steve Shipman and Jack Sharp. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at McCommons Funeral Home and a Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
