Alvin Ralph Walker
Alvin Ralph Walker, age 83, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Mr. Walker was born in Crawfordville, GA on March 14, 1931 the son of the late David Lee Walker and Mary Ethel Sosebee Walker. He attended school at Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville and Barber Shop School in Atlanta. For many years he worked as a barber in the Arrowhead Shopping Center in Clayton County with his brother Clifford Walker. After he retired seventeen years ago, he returned to Union Point. Alvin was a Mason and member of Chappell Lodge #511 in Union Point. He was an avid reader, enjoyed sketching, and will be remembered for his sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Ovelene Walker Bentley and Irene Walker Jackson; four brothers, D L Walker, Gilbert Walker, Clifford Walker and Clinton Walker. He is survived by two children, David Walker and Kim Walker; three brothers, Linton Walker (Talitha) of Winston, GA, Franklin Walker of Murfreesboro, TN and Talmadge Walker (Martha) of Newnan, GA; several grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Talmadge Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Walker, Dean Bentley, and Wayne Jackson. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point.
