Alma Roberts Obituary

Alma Jean Scarborough Roberts of Winterville, Georgia, formerly of Stephens, GA died on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the age of 75 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Madison County on June 2, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Hoyt Henry Scarborough and Martha Elizabeth Herrington Scarborough. She attended school in Penfield, Greene County and Madison County and worked for Wellington Puritan Mills in Greensboro as a ball winder. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, but more recently she had attended Bible Baptist in Danielsville, GA. Alma Jean enjoyed playing, Yatzi, scratching lottery tickets, playing cards, fishing, playing darts and eating out with the family at Ryans.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Randolph Farmer and her second husband, Mack Griffin Roberts, Jr. She is survived by two sons, Aubrey Randolph Farmer of Stephens, GA and Henry Andy Farmer of Maxeys, GA; two sisters, Mary Flanagan and Willie Mae Welch; three brothers, Robert Scarborough, Bobby Scarborough and Richard Scarborough; five grandchildren, Michelle Wilson, Russell Farmer, Angela Tworoger, Charles Farmer and Brey Farmer; three great grandchildren, Erica Wilson, Brent Wilson and Jeremiah Tworoger; one great, great grandchild, Ava Cureton; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 3891 Union Point Highway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Pastor Bobby Tomlin and Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Brown, Charles "Bubba" Farmer, Lamarcus Cureton, Stacy Batchelor, Russell Farmer and Rodney Scarborough. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point, GA. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
