Allen Victor “A.V.” Tate, 73, of Greensboro, Georgia, died on Friday, October 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born July 28, 1940, the son of Onnie Warren Tate and Ruby Adams Tate. He graduated from Greensboro High School. He worked for the State of Georgia Highway Department as an Engineering Technician. On December 27, 1986 he married the former Shirley Poss. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Poss Tate of Greensboro, GA; two daughters, Amy Leach of Union Point, GA and Donna Smith of Union Point, GA; three sons, Howard Peters and wife Wendy of Greensboro, GA, Justin Brian Peters and wife Kimberly of Union Point, GA and John Curtis Peters and wife Holly of Milledgeville, GA; grandchildren, Amber, Marcus, Christian and Alexus Leach and Aaron, Kyle, Heather, Delilah, McKinsey and John Peters, Beth Edwards, Brittany Savage, Brandon and Rick Silvey; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at West End Baptist Church, 1140 North Laurel Avenue, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Frankie Hunter, Ty Janes, Marcus Leach, Andrew Allen,Brandon Silvey and Mark Nuhfer.
