Albert L. Mason, Jr., age 84, of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Athens, GA. Born in Atlanta, GA on September 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Albert L. Mason, Sr. and Helen Sill Mason. Albert attended Acworth City School in Acworth, GA and graduated from Stetson School in Lakeland, FL and Harrison-Draughn Business College in Atlanta, GA. During World War II, he served his country in the United States Army. He married the former Grace Woodruff and they were married for sixty years. For thirty-five years he worked for Fulton National Bank which is now Regions Bank. After retiring they lived in Clearwater, FL for eighteen years and in 2008 moved to Greene County to the Del Webb Community. His hobby was coin collecting and he loved to play golf. Albert was a member of Acworth Presbyterian Church in Acworth, GA and while in Florida a member of Kirk of Dunedin Community Church in Dunedin, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Woodruff Mason of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Katherine Hasting and husband Alan of Oxford, GA; a son, Woody Mason of Bonita Springs, FL; a sister-in-law, Ellen W. Stanford of Snellville, GA; four grandsons, Mason Third and wife Amy, Adam Third and wife Michelle, Jon David Mason and wife Mary Lou and Logan Mason; four great grandchildren, Casey Roberts Third, Katlin Third, Kayla Third and Wesley Third; and his favorite pet cat, Rags.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with his nephew, Lee Guerry officiating. Inurnment will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth, GA. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Kirk of Dunedin Community Church, 2686 Bayshore Blvd., Dunedin, FL 34698.
