While serving as Superintendent of the Oconee Course I had the pleasure of having Jimmy as an Equipment Operator. He was always one that could be counted on and served as an inspiration to others. I was saddened to hear of his passing and I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family.

I sure was saddened to hear of Jimmy's passing. I live in Sparta and owned the newspaper until selling it in 2005. I took some time off and in 2007 I went to work at Reynold's Oconee Golf Course as a course advisor/starter. Jimmy worked there and recognized my name because I was named after my wonderful uncle, the late Allen F. Haywood, owner of Greene Supply for 69 years. We had many laughs remembering Uncle Allen and the many regulars who enjoyed doing business at Greene Supply. When Jimmy found out I was a University of Florida graduate and Gator Booster, he loved to give me hell about them Georgia Bulldogs, especially the years that they managed to beat the Gators. If the Gators won, he would not stop his tractor to talk!!!! I still work occasionally at The Oconee. I will miss Jimmy, and every time a see a mower or sandtrap sweeper I'll think of him. Your family members are in my prayers. Rest well my friend.
