My prayers go out to Mr. Lewis, Lee, Ed, Ethan, and Clayton. Mrs. Barbara was a fine lady. I knew her as a child and later on was at the Nursing home when she became part of our family there. She some always knew if I was early or running late to work. She always had a smile on her face. She loved to talk about her family every chance she got. She is a lady that I would call a true southern belle. She will be greatly missed by so many. The family will be in my thoughts and prayers as they get through difficult time. May God give you the strength and peace to get through difficult days to come. I know I will miss her very much. With deep sympathy, Paige Arwood Hubbard

Barbara was in the 'close friends' group of my Brother Daniel Oliver's class. I recall what an outstanding student and basketball player she was in school. I'm very sorry for your loss, Lewis and family. May she Rest In Peace.

Lee, So saddened by this news. Can't remember a time "Miss" Barbara didn't light up a room with her bright smile and infectious laugh! She was a true Southern lady, with all the grace and elegance one would expect...and one of the most lovely Southern accents I've ever heard. I know the loss you feel and my heart goes out to you and your family. Most Sincerly, Rebecca Long (fna Becky Phelps)

Lewis, what an incredibly unique lady you married --- so many years ago. I'm sure Barbara gave you a lifetime of love, laughs, & -- yes --- challenges, too! She was truly a very special person whom I readily loved upon our first meeting. How I loved to hear her infectious laughter, jokes, and beautiful deep-rooted southern drawl. Though she will be missed by all of us, she will forever remain in my heart. And Lee, to you and your 'guys', please know that my thoughts are with all of you, as well. Most Sincerely, Judy

We were so sorry to hear about Aunt Barbara, but found some solace in knowing that she is at peace. She was just about as feisty as they come, and good to the core. She definitely left a positive mark here on earth. She will be missed, but will be welcomed with open arms where she is going. All our love, Casey, Joel and Wyle (Saxon/Wilson family)

Lee, so sorry for your loss. Your mother was quite a lady. One day I saw how determined she was to help one of my students get medical help. Not many people care so much about others.

Barbara and I grew up together. She was older and was one of my idols. I have not seen her in years, but always thought so much of her. I am sure she will be missed by family and friends. My sympathy to Lewis and Lee.

Three years ago, without my knowledge, one of my favorite persons left a hole in my heart.

Barbara, Miss Saxon to me and my fellow students, was my English teacher at Fulton High School in SE Atlanta in 1959. Truthfully, I remember thinking on my first sighting of the intrepid Barbara Saxon that she wasn't very attractive. Three weeks later I could not imagine how I had ever thought that of the beautiful (what a body!) woman that thrilled us and chilled us - when we dared to step out of line - with her knowledge and love of English literature and all its mechanisms. She awakened in me a life-long intellectual curiosity to learn everything I could about everything the world had to offer.

She remains one of the most influential persons in my life.

The world is a little sadder place without Barbara Saxon Duvall. She was incredibly special.

Sincerely,
Ms. Ricky Winn, author and musician
