Debra Elaine Hansen

Debra Elaine Hansen, age 61, of Greensboro, Georgia passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia.  Debra, along with her twin brother Daniel, was born April 29, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Hans Christian Hansen and Shirley Elaine Ward Hansen.  Deb was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa and attended Iowa State University in Davenport, Iowa.  She worked for Open Magnetic Imaging in Atlanta, Georgia.  She lived several years in California before moving to Marietta and then retired to Greensboro, Georgia.  She loved to join friends at auctions on weekends.

Deb was everyone’s best friend.  She would do anything to help others and to make life better for those around her.  Always giving the thoughtful gifts, her actions spoke volumes about her.  As a MRI Tech for the Atlanta area, she made patients feel safe and always put a smile on their faces.  She received many hugs from those she helped.

In addition to her parents, Hans Christian and Shirley Hansen, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Daniel Hansen.  She is survived by two sisters, Carol Hansen Roeck and Mary Jean Hansen; sister-in-law, Susan Hansen; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will have a celebration of her life at her home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements. Visit us at www.mccommonsfuneralhome.com to sign the online guest register.

Debra June~
I can't believe you are gone. I know my memories of you will creep up at the most random times and for that I am grateful. I am grateful I had you in my life at all. Your selflessness was admirable and I know you are still continuing that journey. Love you lots, Fennifer

Miss Deb,

What can I say. You were a wonderful, sweet person and we were so glad to get to know you. I still have the Valentine basket you made and will treasure it always with wonderful memories. You will be greatly missed. We always look down your way as we pass the 4-way...won't ever be the same. You are at peace now.

Dear Mary, Chris, Cory, Jennifer and family: Our heart hurts for you all that you have to lose another you love so much. In reading all about Deb, it's obvious that hers was a life well spent - serving others and making this world a better place. May the memories she left behind sustain you all until you meet again.

Love to you all,
Brian and Renee

Sweet Debbie,
I hate the fact I'm just now finding out about you going home to be with Shirley, Ike, and your brother Danny. I am happy you were apart of my life you are and always will be an amazing person to me. You taught me so much the times I would get to spend with you. Even thought things didn't work out well between your nephew and I not a day went by I didn't think about you all. You will be grately missed but definitely not forgotten. We love you and will see you again at the golden gates of heaven!!
