Sue Gaynelle Finch Fitzpatrick

Sue (Susie) Gaynelle Finch Fitzpatrick, age 82, of Douglasville, GA passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Benton House of Douglasville.  Born in Greensboro, GA on April 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Hopkins Finch and Nellie Catherine Ashley Finch.  She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1949.  On June 24, 1956 she married E. Calvin Fitzpatrick in Atlanta, GA and they had celebrated their 56th anniversary at the time of his death in November of 2012.  After 31 years of service, she retired as Office Manager from Prudential Insurance Company of America in Macon, GA on January 4, 1988.  Since 1965, she was an active and faithful member of Pine Forest Baptist Church including Ruth Friendship Sunday School Class and C.O.D. (Christians on Duty). Her joy was taking pictures of events and making scrapbooks for C.O.D. and sending cards for every occasion. Sue enjoyed cooking and swapping recipes, shopping for special gifts, and collecting dolls of all kinds.  She and her husband, Calvin, loved to travel especially during the fall when everything was so colorful.  In July of 2011 she moved from Macon to Douglasville, GA to be close to her son and his family.

Survivors include her son, Walter John Fitzpatrick and wife Donna of Newnan, GA; two grandsons, Justin Fitzpatrick and Kevin Fitzpatrick; a great grandson, Kamron Fitzpatrick; sister, Audrey Neville; nephew, Michael (Mary Ann) Neville,  and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Dr. Norm Yukers officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642.  Serving as pallbearers are Carl Miller, Jimmy English, Loren Leach, Justin Fitzpatrick, Kevin Fitzpatrick, and David Boswell. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at McCommons Funeral Home.  The family requests that any memorials be made in memory of Sue (Susie) Fitzpatrick to the Pine Forest Baptist Church, 1848 Tucker Road, Macon, GA 31220. Walt, Donna, Justin & Kevin,
I am so sorry for the loss of your dear Mother and Grandmother who loved you all so dearly and I know that you love her and will miss her so. Hold on to those wonderful memories and know that she is in heaven with The Lord. She is with her dear Calvin and parents and no longer in pain. She was one of the best Christian women that I have ever known and the dearest friend (Sis) anyone could ever have. I am so thankful to have had her as my friend and for the influence she had in my life. You are and will
continue to be in my prayers. Our loss is heaven's gain. God bless you.
