Carmen Nell Barham Andrews

Carmen Nell Barham Andrews, age 83, of Granbury, Texas, died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in Crawfordville, Georgia.  She was born in Cleburne, Texas on May 28, 1931 to the late Nicholas Carmen Barham and Ruby Nell Keirsy Barham.  She graduated from Cleburne High School in Cleburne, Texas.  On July 31, 1953 she married Carl Andrews and they moved to Granbury, Texas.  She lived on a farm, where they raised horses, cattle and numerous other breeds of livestock.  Through the years, she held several jobs in various restaurants, but her true love was being on the ranch, tending the livestock, and raising her children.  In her younger years, she was a racehorse jockey and participated in rodeos as a barrel racer.  She volunteered as a 4-H Leader and thoroughly enjoyed working with the young people helping with their various projects and showing their livestock.  Later in life, her passion was for volunteering at Joseph’s Locker in Granbury, where she worked with and helped the less fortunate in the area.  She also had a select group of ladies that she delighted in going to various activities with each week.  Carmen was a member of Lake Granbury Christian Temple.  She loved her family and friends with all of her heart.  She was truly a people person!

In addition to her husband, Carl Andrews who passed away in March of 2001, she was preceded in death by her brother Morris and his wife Virginia and her step grandson, Robert.  She is survived by her daughter, Vickey Rhodes and husband Joey of Crawfordville, Georgia; her son, Rickey Andrews and wife Madonna of Granbury, Texas; a brother, Robert Winston “Wimpy” Barham and wife Sandy of Cleburne, Texas; two granddaughters, Hannah and Emily Rhodes of Crawfordville, GA.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wiley’s Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Community Church in Granbury.  Burial will follow at Acton Cemetery in Granbury.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Joseph’s Locker, 1612 Weatherford Hwy, Ste 100, PO Box 1152, Granbury, Texas 76048 or Nathanael Greene Academy, P. O. Box 109, Siloam, GA 30669.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of local arrangements. Visit us online at to sign the guest register.

Vickey - I'm so sorry about the loss of Aunt Carmen but I know these last few months have been tough for her. So I'm grateful to know that she is now without pain, breathing without any difficulty and dancing in heaven with Uncle Carl. I'm sure that Mom and Dad are right there with her as well.

love much

Vickey & Rickey and families,

I am so thankful that our family had Aunt Carmen as long as we did. Not a day goes by that I don't laugh out loud or smile because of something she said or did. She was always the life of the party and so giving to everyone she ever met. I will miss her fun games, fidgeting, and of course that purple hair.

Prayers to you and your families during this very difficult time!

Love you all!
