I was so shocked and sad to hear about Joe's sudden passing. He always made me smile and brought happiness to many, many people. On the tennis team, he was a pretty serious competitor, and I enjoyed watching him transform on the court years ago. I know you all will miss him so much and your hearts just ache. I will be thinking of you and praying for you. My sympathies...

"Miss" Nancy, Sally and Ricky,
I am truly heartbroken for all of you. I fondly remember Joe as my childhood friend. He would always come down to Mama Sara's when I was there and talk for hours on the porch. He gave me a rabbit, too. I remember him mostly for his chickens and wrestling. He would talk on the phone to me for hours about that silly wrestling! I still talk about that to my friends here in SC. It has been many years since I saw him last but I never forgot him. He truly was unforgettable. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this most difficult time. We will all cherish our memories of him. Love and prayers to you all.

Nancy Jo, Sally and Ricky,

It was such a shock to wake up and see the post. Joe always had kind words and a wit about him. He and my brother could have passed as brothers...so we know they both had Gentry in them. Gone way too soon, but I guess God has his reasons behind what he does. I know Richard and Aunt Sally were waiting with open arms at Heaven's Gate. Just know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers and know Joe will so greatly be missed. He was a wonderful cousin. May you rest in peace Joe.

Ms. Nancy, Ricky and Sally. I'm still shocked and so saddened over Joe and my prayers are with each of you. I have so many fond memories of Joe growing up from the sports we played together, him at Mama Sara's house, me up at y'alls house. He used to have me in stitches mimicking his favorite wrestlers, he and Ricky having fun with each other about them. He could always make you smile or laugh when you needed it most. I wish I had gotten more chances to see him over the years, but memories of him will live in my heart forever. God bless and keep him, and all of you too.

I remember so many fond childhood memories with Joe. many afternoons after school was spent at his house. I was driving past a golf course yesterday and it reminded me of me and Joe's trip to myrtle beach to play par 3 courses and it was thundering and lightening like crazy and we were deciding whether to keep playing. and his staffordshire dog and rooster conversations filled alot of days. Joe always saw the best of situations and would lift up people around him. He was the real deal. He will be so missed and heaven will be lifted by his presence.
