Gregory Alan Walker of Athens, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at his residence at the age of 54.  Born in Atlanta, GA on September 16, 1959, he was the son of Lucy Elizabeth Carnes Walker of Greensboro, GA and the late James Edward Walker.  He graduated from Norcross High School and the Atlanta Art Institute.  During his working career, he was a graphic artist for Ebasco Services Inc. in Atlanta.  His hobbies were fishing and collecting artifacts.
He is survived by his mother, Lucy Walker of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, Michael Walker and his wife Pamela of Kennesaw, GA and Mark Walker of Auburn, GA; a niece, Sarah Walker; a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Mike Pritchett and Rev. Tom Dial officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, Georgia  30642.  Serving as pallbearers are Larry Walker, Steve Dial, Alan Ward, Gene Chatham, Billy Hawkins, and Ray Ward.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. My condolences to Aunt Lucy,Mark and Mike for the loss of their son, and brother. Greg was a vey kind heared person that would do anything for you. Now, He is no longer suffering,and is at peace. Love to all that knew and loved him. Rhonda

Aunt Lucy, Mark, and Mike you all are in my prayers. Greg was the brother I never had. He was my closest cousin growing up as a kid. We did everything together, and I will truly miss him.

My dear friend Greg, it has been almost a year since you passed away. I think of you often. You were like a brother to me, and were my life long friend. Your family was like part of my own family. I have many fond memories of both you and them. Rest in peace my friend.
