E. L. “Boss” Turner, age 83, of the Greshamville Community died Sunday, December 7, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Fulton County on November 16, 1920 to the late Robert Cam Turner and Lucy Belle Leach Turner. While in the United States Army 360th Field Artillery Battalion 44, 95th Division during World War II, he served in the European Theatre including the Battles of Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME Service Ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars, Purple Heart, American Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Howard “Sonny” Turner and wife Bonnie of Monroe, GA and Tommy Turner and wife Janice of Snellville, GA; a brother, Raymond Turner and wife Louise of Locust Grove, GA; three grandchildren, Brent Turner and wife Courtney of Fort Valley, GA, Seth Turner of Monroe, GA and Patrick Turner of Snellville, GA; and a great grandchild, Abigail Turner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae Tamplin Turner; a sister, Marguerite Turner Bryans; and a brother, Robert E. Turner. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville, GA with Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lamar Bryans, Charlie “Bud” Bryans, Harold Tamplin, Wayne Tamplin, Bruce Tamplin, Doug Tamplin, Wayne Turner, Earl Turner and Jack Turner. The family requests that any memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church, c/o W.J. Thurmond, 311 E. Greene Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
