Warren LaFayette “Jack” Ellison, age 77, of Greensboro, GA died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at his home. Born on November 12, 1929 in Paulding County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Warner LaFayette Ellison and Irene Wills Ellison. He graduated from Dallas High School in the Class of 1948 and joined the United States Navy in July. In 1950 he married Reba Cole and they moved to Decatur. He began his railroad career with the NC & St. L Railroad in Atlanta which later became the L & N Railroad. His job took him from Atlanta to Nashville, Cobb County, Corbin, Kentucky and Louisville Kentucky where he retired as the Superintendent of the Mechanical Division. He and Reba retired to Ft. Myers, Florida in 1986. His second retirement started in 1997 moving to Port Armor in Greensboro, Georgia. Jack was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Atlanta. He was also a member of IBEW. Jack loved to play golf, watch the Atlanta Braves and the Kentucky Wildcats. His strength will remain as our inspiration. In addition to his wife, Reba Cole Ellison, of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by a daughter, April E. Wolford of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, a grandson, Timothy William Wolford of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister, Gail E. Jones and husband Bobby of Augusta, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Warren Ellison in 1984. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Loran Wills officiating. The family will receive friends next door at the Historic Hall-Thomas House after the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Jack and Reba Ellison Scholarship Fund for Greene County High School, c/o Bank South Foundation, P. O. Box 89, Greensboro, GA 30642. We will really miss Jack. It is hard to imagine walking on to the green without Jack, puffing on his pipe, ready to make the putt.

We will never forget, Jack calling to inquire about Jim's heart surgery just several days before he went home to be with the Lord. What a very selfless thing to do. That will always be one of our most touching memories.
