Bo, my dad called after running into you this afternoon and hearing this sad news! So sorry to miss your mother's service and the opportunity to extend my deepest sympathies to you in person. I remember my year in your mother's 1st grade class at Nat Greene vividly, even after all these years -- she was strict with us, but it was "tough love" and we were better students and, ultimately, lifelong learners because of her early influence in our lives. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this time... Very sincerely, Rebecca Long (Becky Phelps)

When I think of your mother, I think of you and Becky as small children in our Burger Ranch in Union Point. My that's been so many years ago, she was a special lady back then and that was before she taught both my children at Nat. Greene. She has always been a very dear friend to me and my family as are you and Becky. Too many memories to mention but are fresh in my mind and precious in my memories. Love you and wanted you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. You know that although she's gone before us, she will always remain with us as our guardian angel. She leaves such a legacy with all her students and friends as well. God bless.

We are so sorry to lose Mrs. Cheves. She was such a wonderful character and we were all blessed to have had her in our lives. We will always remember her sparkly hair clips and hearing her lead the NGA first graders singing the alma mater. We know she will be dearly missed by all her children and grandchildren, as well as all her NGA "children." She will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

To the entire Cheves Family, we have very special memories of "Miss Cheves" As a teacher, she encouraged her students to overcome their fears in a classroom so they could become more confident students. She expected her students to try their best and they all respected and loved her deeply. We feel privelaged to have known her and had the opportunity to share in honoring her decades of service to NGA. She was such a strong, independent woman who always offered everything she could to her students (and their parents). We also had the pleasure of hearing all about her grandchildren! She loved her grandchildren! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. There will never be another who will have the sense of style she did with her hair acessories! With love, Kristine, Cary.
