Mary Cherniski of Greensboro, GA, formerly of Claymont, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 22, 2012, at the age of 93 at Boswell Parker Health & Rehabilitation in Greensboro. Mary devoted her life to being a loving, caring wife and mother and a wonderful homemaker. She liked to dance and give hugs and those images of her will be a happy, lasting memory to all who knew her. Mary will be dearly missed.

Mary was born on March 24, 1919, in Chester, PA, to the late Catherine and Louis Fatzinick. She married Andrew Cherniski in 1940, and they moved with their family to Claymont, DE, in 1950 where they lived in the home Andrew built. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Claymont for more than 40 years.

In 2006 Mary moved to Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA, with her daughter, Pat, to be closer to the rest of her family. She enjoyed the relaxing life at the lake, the many family gatherings, and she adored her great-grandchildren. She attended the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro.

In addition to her mother and father, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; daughter, Diane Rineer; brothers, Peter Fatzinick and Michael Fatzinick; and sisters, Ann Ferguson and Eve Twomey.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Chapman of Greensboro, GA, and Katherine Calhoun and husband Richard of Greensboro, GA; son, Michael Cherniski and wife Janice of Watkinsville, GA; grandchildren, Susan Pope and husband Nick of Suwanee, GA, and Linda Downey and husband Chad of Buford, GA; great-grandchildren, George and Jillian Pope and Elle and Emre Downey; son-in-law, Bill Rineer of Greensboro, GA; and sister, Kathryn Laskowski of Wilmington, DE.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, 303 N. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642, with The Rev. Joseph D. Greene, III officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Activities Center behind the church. Mary''s remains will be returned to Pennsylvania and interred next to her husband at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.

For the past two and a half years, Mary resided at Willow Run Retirement Home and during the past month was being cared for at Boswell Parker Health & Rehabilitation. The family would like to thank the staff at both facilities for their kindness and the wonderful care extended to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mary''s name to the Church of the Redeemer, P.O. Box 93, Greensboro, GA 30642. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. I will always remember my mother as one that gave her all to her family. She was unselfish and forgiving. She raised us four children to appreciate what we had and to have respect for others. We should all be so lucky to have lived the long, healthy life that she did. God truly blessed her. I know she is at peace with him now, along with all that went before her, especially Diane, who we believe was waiting for her. I will always hold Mom in my heart and memories. I love you. Katherine

My heart aches but I find comfort in knowing that Mom is at peace and is with Dad, Diane and her Mom and Pop. What a happy reunion they must be having! Mom had a wonderful, healthy life and an especially fulfilling one here at the lake close to her family. I am grateful to God that he let me have her for such a long time and for the blessing of strong family ties. I will miss so much her smile and hugs. Thank you, Mom, for everything you did to make my life so complete. I love you and miss you. Love, Pat XOXOXO

I send my condolences. The Bible assures us that God cares at 1 Peter 5:7. Always remember in this time of sorrow, Jehovah God is willing and ready to help and he encourges you at Psalm 55:22 to Cast thy burdens upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee. I know this will be a comfort to you.

High above us on an billowy expanse that our Lord set aside for special free spirited souls a joyous reunion took place the 22nd on January 2012. A mother and her youngest daughter once again embraced. Even in my saddened mind I can hear their laughter and see their fun loving dance. Mary gave me one of her most precious possessions and for that I will love and remember her forever.
