Jane, I am a second cousin to you Dad. My mother was Lurlene Chapman, daughter of Samuel Jackson Chapman. Jackie as he was called was brother of your grandfather, Delos. We have visited Herbert several times a few years ago but had not seen him lately. I am so sorry I had not been lately but I lost my husband, Larry Shiflett in 2004. I remarried in 2007. Larry and Herbert shared a lot of interests such as genealogy. I am sorry for your loss and will miss hearing from him. By the way I have a brother that was named for you Grandfather, his name is Delos Whitaker. May God bless you and comfort you. Would love to meet you. Carolyn

I am a distant cousin who, many years ago, on a genealogy research trip visited as many Taliaferro/Greene Chapmans as I could find at home. I missed Herbert. My great-grandfather John Thomas Chapman and family moved from Crawfordville to Plymouth, Florida in 1882. Over the years, Delos and several of his sons visited.
