Jimmy Coplan Channell, age 64, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Greene County he was born on March 16, 1942 to the late Paskel Channell and Janie Lou Wood Channell. He graduated from Union Point High School. For twenty-five years he worked for Webb Brothers Supply as a salesman and truck driver. He later worked for Oconee Yard Products and Oconee Lighting. He enjoyed working on cars, collecting junk and being with friends.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Patricia Stradley Channell of Greensboro, GA; three daughters, Kelley Channell of Madison, GA, Marsha Dean of Greensboro, GA and Mary Patterson of Gainesville, GA; three sons, Ron Crymes of Gainesville, GA, James Crymes of Gillsville, GA and Joe Crymes of Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Betty Armor and husband William "Billy" Armor of Macon, GA; a brother, Charles Channell of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Wednesday Channell of Madison, GA, Paxton Channell of Madison, GA, Ethan James Crymes of Gillsville, GA, Jennifer Tanksley of Alto, GA, Caleb Patterson of Dupont, WA and Todd Wright of Gainesville, GA; two great grandchildren, Whitney Tanksley and Madison Tanksley of Alto, GA; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Ralph Arnold and Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point, GA. Serving as pallbearers are Mike McCommons, Randy Channell, Hoyt Lindsey, Mark Channell, Lynn Leach and Roy Lindsey. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pat, Please know the news of Mr. Jimmy's death has been very shocking and so hard to accept. You always have certain people that you think are untouchable and will never leave us. I can honestly say Mr. Jimmy was one of my untouchables. During this time of grief I hope you, Kelley and the rest of the family can find a calm and soothing peace in knowing that he is now at true rest and peace. Please know you are in my family's prayers and thoughts.
