James Walter "Duck" Channell was best known among the older local citizens for a massive home run he hit into the "Mill Pond" behind the leftfield fence at old Brook Park in Greensboro in the 1940's or early 1950's, while playing for the Mary Leila Cotton Mill semi-pro team. But to those who knew him best, he was - a wonderful husband, - a wonderful father, and - a wonderful grandfather - He was a very, very good man and will be greatly missed by many.
