Ovelene Walker Bentley, age 77, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Ovelene was a native of Greene County and lived most of her life in Union Point. Born March 26, 1929 she was the daughter of the late David Lee Walker and Mary Soesbee Walker. She graduated from Taliaferro County High School and spent most of her working career as a boarder at Chipman Union.

She is survived by a son, Dean Bentley of Union Point, GA; a sister, Irene Jackson of Union Point, GA; five brothers, Clifford Walker of Madison, GA, Alvin Walker of Union Point, GA, Linton "Whitey" Walker of Atlanta, GA, Frank Walker of Louisiana and Talmadge Walker of Atlanta, GA; a grandson, Joshua Clyde Bentley of Hartwell, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David Lee Walker, Gilbert Walker and Clinton "Brownie" Walker.

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point with Rev. Jim Olds officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Dale Brown, Randy Herrington, Richard Baker, Barry Meadows, Wayne Jackson, Joshua Bentley and Joshua George. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
