He was born in Tecumseh, Michigan to the late Keith and Esther Barron. He received his Bachelor''s degree and M.B.A. from the University of Michigan where he also met and married his best friend and loving wife of nearly fifty years, Shirley (Dayharsh) Barron. He remained a life-long, avid U of M fan. Go Blue!!

The couple moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1959 where they raised their 4 children. He enjoyed golf and bowling and bowled a 300 game during league play.

In 1993 Jerry and Shirley retired to Great Waters in Eatonton, Georgia. They made many wonderful friends and enjoyed the golfing and the beautiful weather. At Reynolds, Jerry served as Secretary of the Men''s Golf Association, and also scored 2 holes-in-one.

Shirley, Irene's and my prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family in this difficult time. Jerry was a good friend and supervisor to me during my years at Upjohn. He supported me and was loyal to me like no other supervisor. I'm delighted to hear of his two "hole-in-ones" while in Georgia. I've not been able to accomplish that feat. Best wishes to you in the months ahead. Joe Atkinson
