Caroline Ashley, 80, of Greensboro, GA, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at her residence. Born in Greene County on September 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Seaborn Ashley and Dana Smith Ashley. In 1943 she graduated from Greensboro High School and in 1947 graduated from Wesleyan Conservatory of Music and School of Fine Arts in Macon, GA. For twenty-six years she taught school in Florida and South Carolina and then returned to her hometown of Greensboro. Caroline was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro. She had a lifelong interest in photography, genealogy and gardening which she continued to enjoy after retirement.

She is survived by brother W. S. "Billy" Ashley and wife Mary Jean of Greensboro, GA; nephew Eric Ashley of White Plains, GA; great nephew Greg Ashley and wife Laura of Atlanta, GA; great nieces Joy Ashley of Athens, GA, Lisa Ashley of Athens, GA and Erica Ashley of Athens, GA; a number of other relatives and her cat companions Moses, Oscarena, Baby and Tiger. She was preceded in death by her nephew William Seaborn Ashley Jr.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro with Rev. Richard Chewning officiating. Interment will follow in Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lee Byce, Chuck Williams, Ken Cawthon, Lewis Brown, Joel McRay, Ken Ashley, Mike Pruett and Bud Kennedy. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 202 W. Ms. Ashley was such a wonderul lady. She shared so much of herself and wisdom that God imparted unto her. I miss her visits to the library and I miss talking to her. She was a great asset to this community.
