William Chester Greeson
William Chester Greeson of Union Point, Georgia, age 81, died on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA. Mr. Greeson was born in the Greshamville Community of Greene County on March 29, 1935, the son of the late William Henry Greeson and Ruby Thurmond Greeson. He grew up and attended school in Greshamville. He married the former Mamie Williams on June 20, 1969 and they made their home in Union Point, GA. Mr. Greeson first worked for Chipman Union in Union Point as a machine fixer and also as a carpenter for Bobby Vaughn. Before retiring he was self employed as a carpenter and made cabinets. Chester was of the Baptist faith. He was a wonderful handyman, wood worker, builder and could fix just about anything. He also loved to garden and had a beautiful garden every year.
He is survived by his wife Mamie Greeson of Union Point, GA; niece, Connie Burke and husband Keith; nephew, Mark Haynes; two great nieces, Haley Graves and husband Chris and their son, Thomas Graves and Molly Robinson and husband L. J. and their daughter, Ella Robinson; and great nephew, Ethan Haynes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lee Greeson Haynes.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Franklin Combs, Edward Dingler, Jamie Eley, Chris Graves, Mark Higdon, L.J. Robinson, Randy Shuman and James Taylor. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home of Union Point.
