Wade Steven Parker
Wade Steven Parker, age 56, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was the son of Loyd Vernon and Diane Gillen Parker, born on February 23, 1957. Wade was a 1978 graduate of Greene County High School. During his working career, he worked for Jack In The Box, McDonalds, Publixs, David Brown and the Greene County Library. He also led the youth group at West End Baptist Church, was an Leader and Co-Commander of Awana at First Baptist Church of Greensboro and a mentor at the public schools. Wade was a lay preacher and a solo singer. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Greensboro.
In addition to his parents, Vernon and Diane Parker of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by two brothers, Patrick Parker and his wife Judy of Cordele, GA and Paul Parker and wife Tracy Ann of Pomeroy Washington; sister, Teresa Diane Parker Simpson of Greensboro, GA, Aunt Paula Gillen Akins and husband Bascom, Aunt Frances Parker Ussery and husband William “Bill”; large number of cousins; a number of nieces and nephews, many friends. Four aunts and six uncles preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, 1971 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Dr. Jimmy Long and Rev Robert Robinson officiating, Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, Georgia 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Parker, Paul Parker, Jim Nicholson, Mike Simpson, Jim Moore and Rick Ward. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Wednesday morning prayer group at Grace Fellowship Church. The family will receive friends Monday night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
