Shirley Shelnutt Cason

Shirley Shelnutt Cason, age 83, of Union Point, GA, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA.  A lifelong resident of Greene County, Shirley was born August 28, 1933 in Greensboro, the only child of the late John Ralph Shelnutt and Lottie Mae Melton Shelnutt.  In 1952 Shirley graduated from Greensboro High School.  After high school she started her working career at the City Cafe in Greensboro.  For many years she worked for the Townehouse and later retired from Hardee’s in Greensboro as manager.  She was an avid sports fan who love Georgia Football and the Atlanta Braves.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Cason, Sr.  She is survived by a daughter, Kay Hassler and husband Mark of Fargo, North Dakota; four grandchildren, Jennie Miller and husband Doug, Matt Bryan and wife Holly, Katie Miller and husband Josh, and Wesley Bryan and friend, Macey Lowery; a dear cousin she was close to, Ann Cronic and husband Richard; seven great grandchildren; and many friends.  
 
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev.
