Annis Ruth Carson Duvall
Annis Ruth Carson Duvall, age 87, of the Greshamville Community, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her love ones. Mrs. Duvall was born on July 26, 1926 in the Salem Community in Oconee County to the late Lorenzo Dow Carson and Ada Eubanks Carson. She attended Farmington School and Watkinsville High School, where she was a outstanding guard on the basketball team. She married Reid Arthur Duvall on March 17, 1943.
Her past work experience included working at Woolworth’s in Akron, Ohio and Enterprise Aluminum in Eatonton, GA and helping her husband,Reid Duvall, on the family D & D Dairy/Cattle Farm. She was an active and faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville. Ruth was also a member of the Womens Missionary Union and the Eastern Star Chapter 335.
In addition to her husband, Reid Arthur Duvall, who preceded her in death on February 20, 1997, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Duvall and Larry Duvall; a grandson, Reid Duvall; and siblings, Warren Carson, L. D. Carson, Viola Heiress, Pansy Sanders and Mildred Davis. She is survived by three daughters, Martha D. Wood and husband Curran of Nicholson, GA, Nell D. Magnus and husband Kenneth of Maxeys, GA and Cathy D. Smith of the Greshamville Community; a son, Billy Duvall and wife Bonnie of the Greshamville Community; eight grandchildren, Matt Wood, Andy Wood, Brian Wood, Jay Turner, Mark Turner, Brad Turner, Will Duvall and John Duvall; thirteen great grandchildren; her beloved dog, Sophie; and a number of other relatives and close friends.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 1400 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Mike Pritchett and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Will Duvall, John Duvall, Cody Duvall, Jay Turner, Brad Turner, Mark Turner, Brian Wood, Matt Wood and Andy Wood. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at McCommons Funeral Home.
