Rachel Elizabeth Freeman
Rachel Elizabeth Freeman, age 88, of Greensboro, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Clearview Regional Medical Center in Monroe, GA. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Greshamville the daughter of the late Floyd Bingham Freeman and Glennie Smith Freeman. After graduating from high school, she attended LaGrange College for 2 years, then received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Georgia. She retired from teaching after 41 years of service at Dalton, Dublin, Monroe and Greensboro. She also taught at Meadowcrest in Greensboro. Rachel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro and a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed singing with the Golden Tones and was a member of Happy Hearts. She was a very caring and giving person whose greatest joys were being with her family and friends.
She is survived by a sister, Martha Sue Dyar, nieces, Susan Dyar, Pattie Gilbert (Dwayne) and Margaret Patrick (Mike); nephew, Jon Dyar (Teresa); 4 great nephews, 4 great nieces and 14 great, great nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Rick Hermann and Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Pres Dyar, Andy Dyar, Clint Patrick, Cody Patrick, Brandon Manders and Eric Gakstatter. The family will receive friends at McCommons Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. The family requests that any memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 203 S.
