Peyton Adams Duncanson, 85, previously of Palm City, FL and Crested Butte, CO, died peacefully at her home on April 6, 2010 in Greensboro, GA.
Born January 11, 1925 in Paoli, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late D. Hayes Agnew Adams and Maud Peyton Adams. She was also preceded in death by brothers Stuart Adams and J. Howe Adams IV, and her husband of 56 years, Thomas (Tod) Duncanson.
A homemaker and a consummate hostess, she was very involved with many charitable and civic organizations. In addition to traveling extensively world wide with her husband, she was an avid golfer and curler who regularly participated in northeastern US regional golf competitions and in regional and national curling competitions.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, and a lifelong member of The Society of Mayflower Descendents and The Peyton Society of Virginia.
She is survived by daughter Peyton Rardin of Greensboro, son Thomas (Lynn) Duncanson of Crested Butte, CO, and daughter Jane (Robert) Legg of Greensboro; grandchildren Lisa Rardin (John) Hofmeister of Denver, Co, Deborah Legg of Austin, TX, Timothy (Amy) Emmett-Rardin of Philadelphia, and Wendy Legg (Andrew) Gilbertson of Minneapolis, and five great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at the Palm City FL Presbyterian in early June, followed shortly thereafter by a celebration of life/memorial service to be held in Greensboro.
