Otis Simons

David Otis Simons of Crawfordville, Georgia died on Monday, April 05, 2010 at the age of 69. Mr. Otis was born in Greene County in the Macedonia Community on March 11, 1941 to the late John David Simons and Monteen Wray Simons. He attended school in Woodville and Union Point. He retired from Chipman Union in Union Point as a supervisor. He was a member of Margaret''s Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Andrew M. Wolihin Lodge # 132. Otis enjoyed helping others, cutting grass and talking with the guys at the breakfast club. Known for his generosity and kindness, he will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Clifford O''Neal Wheeler Simons of Crawfordville, GA; a daughter, Susan Simons McCullough of Watkinsville, GA; a son Tim Simons and wife Vicki of Woodville, GA; a sister Emily Neal and husband Bobby of Thomson, GA; four grandchildren, Jimmy Simons and wife Jessica of Jefferson, GA, Curtis Simons of Woodville, GA, Shane McCullough and Chloe McCullough both of Watkinsville, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter Tina Simons in July of 1986.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Margaret''s Grove Baptist Church, 1791 Margaret''s Grove Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Rev. Tommy Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Herbert Rhodes, Wayne Taylor, John Allen, Charlie Taylor, Bobby Moore and Dorsey Cooper. Honorary pallbearers are Glynn Fennell, Stan Jackson and Joey Rhodes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Callaway Funeral Home.
