Mary Elizabeth Sanders Wilson

Mary Elizabeth Sanders Wilson, age 89 of Tucker, GA died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville, GA. A native of Greene County, she was born July 2, 1920 to the late Julian William Sanders and Ammie McKinley Sanders. Elizabeth graduated from Greensboro High School and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. During World War II, she was employed by the Civil Service in Washington, GA. She married Jack Edison Wilson on October 17, 1943. After moving to DeKalb County, she was a special needs school teacher for years at Fairhaven School. While growing up in Greene County, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro until 1963. After moving to Tucker she became a member of Clarkston United Methodist Church, where she started the Sunshine Class for special needs children and taught it for over twenty years. She served her church faithfully and was a member and President of the Guild and President of the United Methodist Women. She was very active in her community and served on the Community Services Board in DeKalb County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wilson in April of 2000; and a brother, James W. Sanders. She is survived by her children, Mary Elizabeth Wilson Thompson and husband David K. Thompson of Milledgeville, GA, Jacquelyn Wilson Daniell of Snellville, GA and Julian Thomas Wilson of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Julie Marie Thompson and Jill Lauren Thompson; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Larry Amos and Rev. Richard Chewning officiating. Interment will follow at the Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Dene Channell, Stephen Daniell and David Thompson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Leighton Channell and Logan Channell. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Alzheimer''s Association, 1925 Century Blvd., Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345, the First United Methodist Church, 366 Log Cabin Road NE, Milledgeville, GA 31061 or the Clarkston United Methodist Church, 3919 Church Street, Clarkston, GA 30021.
